There’s something about lying awake in the quiet hours that brings the truth to the surface.
Last night, I found myself thinking about how hard it can be to just… be yourself. Not the polished version. Not the version that agrees with every opinion or bends to fit into the shape of those around you. Just you—with your quirks, contradictions, bold thoughts, and “unpopular” truths.
And honestly? I don’t like what self-editing does to a person, because every time we silence a thought, adjust a reaction, or dim our light to keep others comfortable—we lose a piece of who we are.
So if you have to adopt one resolution for now, adopt this one – DTAC: Don’t Try and Conform.
In a world constantly adjusting itself, I’m choosing to stay rooted in who I am. At 57, I’m not here to reinvent myself for anyone else’s expectations. I’m here to be real, to be messy, to be whole. Warts and all.
If you’ve ever felt the tug to shrink or shift to fit in—you’re not alone. And this space? This blog? It’s where we stop doing that.
Welcome to MellyMully, where authenticity always wears the crown.
